With the school year well underway, high school seniors are preparing to apply to colleges and thinking about their future careers. With the support of the LPL Financial Foundation, Junior Achievement and mentorship from LPL employee volunteers, 150 students are now more prepared for what lies ahead.

During LPL’s 4th annual Junior Achievement Learning Symposium, LPL employee volunteers worked alongside high school seniors from Garinger and South Mecklenburg High Schools in Charlotte, N.C., and Hoover High School in San Diego, offering perspective and tools to support their future success. Professionals were paired with students to discuss how to develop their soft skills, such as their personal branding, as well as tips for creating impactful resume and cover letters.

Ruby Martinez, a 17-year old student at Hoover High School, said, “This is an important time in my life. This workshop gave me the opportunity to work with real business professionals and learn what interview skills I will need to secure a great career.”

“It is important for our team to share life experiences and career advice through meaningful project-based activities like today’s Symposium,” said Sallie Larsen, managing director and chief human capital officer at LPL Financial and LPL Foundation board member. “By working with Junior Achievement, our employees are able to help students connect the importance of what they are learning in the classroom today to their future success.”
